Dear friends,
As you’ve probably heard, Energy Transfer wants to build the Desert Southwest Pipeline through our region of Arizona. It would be a massive 48” pipeline that would ship natural gas from the Permian Basin in Texas, across New Mexico, and over to Arizona for power plants that want to sell electricity to all the data centers planned for the region. The power plants have plans to expand their capacity by 3-4 gigawatts, but need gas from the Desert Southwest Pipeline to get started.
The last thing we need is a 48” pipeline ripping across our fragile desert ecosystem so energy companies can make billions of dollars by polluting our air, powering the data centers that threaten our scarce water resources. No gas pipeline means no power plant expansion and no new data centers – it's that simple.
Say NO to the Desert Southwest Pipeline!

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is the agency charged with overseeing the permitting of the Desert Southwest Pipeline, and they are about to start their environmental review process. FERC just announced a scoping period; they want to hear from people like us about what they should consider in their review. We have until August 5 to comment. This is not the only chance you’ll have to get your voice on the record, but it’s important to let Energy Transfer and FERC know that we don’t want this pipeline.
The Lower San Pedro Watershed Alliance and partner organizations are holding an online info-session and comment writing workshop, where residents and members of partner organizations can learn about the project and how it would impact them, as well as how to write/submit scoping comments to FERC. Please invite folks in your community and organizations to join the growing movement to stop the Desert Southwest Pipeline.
